Do I still have to comply with local parking regulations at EV charging locations? Can I get a fine if I don't pay for parking when I park at an EV charging location?
Here you can read a bit about different parking rules that some providers may set up in e.g. car parks and parking garages.
The Municipality of Copenhagen has made it favorable to park your electric car in the city. It is free to park your electric vehicle in all public municipal car parks in Copenhagen (public roads). HOWEVER, this ends after 2023, as a political majority at the Copenhagen City Hall have decided to end the favorable parking advantages for electrical vehicle owners. 🚗
Parking in private car parks 🅿️
Parking in private car parks has special parking rules. It is our customers who make their charging stations publicly available. Therefore, they also determine the parking rules in the area in the case of private parking. Most often, time-limited rules are set up in areas where public chargers are available. These must still be respected.
You should therefore still pay attention to the local signing in the area, even if the app indicates that the charger is available and accessible. The general rule of thumb is to always follow the local signing that indicates special parking rules in the car park you are parked at.
However, if there are parking rules that are in direct conflict with what is indicated by availability in our app, we would love to hear from you at support@spirii.com so that we can find a better solution with the owner of the charging station.
Spirii has nothing to do with the local parking rules, and we cannot help you cover the expenses of a parking fine, or help you cancel the fine. In this case, you always have to make a claim to the parking company responsible for the ticket.
