What does it mean that I can get a refund of the electricity fee? What is an electricity fee refund?
Read here about the refund of the electricity fee, which many people first learn about when they have a private charger installed at home for their electric car.
The electricity price you pay at home is composed of the pure electricity price, transport, other fees and an electricity fee to the state. To promote the transition to electric transport, the government has introduced a special fee refund scheme for electricity used exclusively to charge electric cars at your home charger. You can either own or rent the charger from a charge operator, but you must have an agreement with a charge operator who will take care of the operation, service and maintenance of your charge box, and collect your refund from the Danish tax authorities. You cannot apply for the refund yourself. 📑
The Danish Parliament has extended the scheme until 2030.
You can therefore get a refund for the electricity you use on your own charger at home. 💵
SKAT's rules for reimbursement of the electricity fee dictate that the charge operator who collects and pays the refund to you also has and must take full operational responsibility for your charger, even if your charger was purchased elsewhere. You must therefore sign a service agreement to get a refund on your electricity fee. 🤝
