Why am I not receiving VAT in my reimbursement? Why is it that I pay VAT on my electricity fee, but I don't receive it from you?
Read more about the new practice for the collection and payment of the electricity tax, which has changed from what it was before.
Unfortunately, current VAT rules states that charging operators can no longer collect and pay out the VAT on the electricity fee. However, you still pay VAT on the electricity fee. 💸
At Spirii, we are working hard to challenge this new practice, as we do not believe that electric car drivers should be worse off than before - it is neither good for electric car drivers nor the green transition. And fortunately, we are not alone. Throughout the charging industry, there is a broad consensus that this new practice is not fair. ✊
Until we receive support for this point of view, we will of course follow the rules of not collecting and reimbursing VAT on the electricity fee. Read here what this means for you if you receive a refund of the electricity tax: Implications for the new electricity fee refund practice and the rate of the refund.
